At The Rock Church, we like to keep in touch with anybody who considers themselves part of The Rock Church community.
This is so that we can be in a relationship with you, and keep you informed of church activities and other events and information which may be of interest.
Below are more details about how we communicate with you and how we keep your information, this has been updated to comply with new data protection rules effective from 25 May 2018 (GDPR).
What information do we collect and why?
We ask for your name, e-mail and phone number when you start coming to The Rock Church so that we can keep you informed about church activities, useful information, and any change in our Sunday venue.
If you are a regular part of The Rock Church community we also collect your postal address so that we can better serve you as a church. This information is added to our church address list.
If you have Sunday rota responsibilities with The Rock Church, your name and e-mail address are stored on this website and are used to send automatic rota reminder e-mails. They are only visible to people with administrator rights for the website.
Who will have access to your information?
Other members of The Rock Church can obtain your details from us upon request unless you ask that your information is not shared.
The church address list is given to members of The Rock Church leadership team. You can request for your details not to be included.
If you have rota responsibilities your name and e-mail address are visible to Church Insight who host this website, but they do not do anything with that information.
If you donate to The Rock Church, your details are shared with HMRC as part of the Gift Aid reclaim process, your donation information is in the accounts records which are examined by Stewardship annually, and if you signed a Gift Aid form that is kept securely by the church treasurer.
What you should know about your data protection rights
You have the following rights about the information we hold on you:
the right to be informed about what details we hold on you and what we use it for
the right to see that information
the right to have any errors corrected
the right to request removal of your details from our records
the right to restrict processing (not applicable to The Rock Church)
the right to data portability (not applicable to The Rock Church)
the right to object to anything we do with your information
the right not to be subject to automated decision-making including profiling (not applicable to The Rock Church)
What else you should know
Your information is treated with respect, is kept secure, and we do not share it with others without your consent. If you hold a copy of the church address list previously supplied to you, we ask that you treat it accordingly.
The lawful basis on which we hold your details is that as part of The Rock Church you expect to be kept informed about The Rock Church activities and related information, and we expect to be able to communicate that information to you.
If you decide to no longer be part of The Rock Church, your details will be removed from the church address list, and (if applicable) from the website.
